Wine store owner injured in Garobadha attack after denying free alcohol

Garobadha, Feb 14: Tensions flared at Harigaon market of Garobadha, 31 kms from Tura, when a local liquor store owner was violently assaulted after refusing to serve two men without payment on Thursday night.

The victim, Manob Ch Marak of Bolganggre, who was running the liquor store was approached at approximately 7:50 PM by two men who demanded liquor and refused to pay for it.  When he refused to part with his goods, the situation escalated. The two infuriated men allegedly tried to close his shop by force, and when he intervened, they attacked him.

The store owner sustained injuries to his head and stomach after being struck with a bottle and then attacked with a broken bottle.

Following a police FIR, police quickly identified the two attackers as Uttam Arengh of Sangkaregre and one Darmen of Harigaon village. Both men have been apprehended and a case has been registered.

The victim has been provided with medical attention at the Garobadha Primary Health Centre (PHC) following the assault.
