₹6 lakh to rehab centre to purchase vehicle

Shillong, Nov 19: Halfway Home, a rehabilitation centre run by Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment (SURE) at Jowai, received an assistance of ₹6.07 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund 2024-25.

Chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday handed over a cheque of ₹6,07,336 to SURE secretary Dr HH Mohrmen to purchase a vehicle for Halfway Home.

Halfway Home, which shelters persons living with mental illness, who have been cured, and no longer require hospitalisation, was established last year.

Sponsored by the Directorate of Social Welfare, the Halfway Home at Iawmusiang, Jowai has successfully relocated two patients to their respective families, stated a press release.
