Imphal, Sep 12: A Myanmar national was apprehended after 154 grams of narcotic substance was seized from his possession in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, police said on Saturday.
The 36-year-old man was apprehended on Friday by a joint team of the Behiang police and the Assam Rifles during a routine patrol along border pillar 41, a senior officer said.
He is a resident of Vanglai village in Myanmar.
“Eleven soap cases, suspected to contain heroin weighing approximately 154 grams, were seized. The value of the contraband has not been ascertained,” he said.
Manipur shares a 398-km border with Myanmar, of which nearly 55 km are fenced. (PTI)
