2nd phase of Gunotsav-2025 concludes: 13.84 lakh students across 15,650 schools assessed

Comprehensive evaluation conducted across 14 districts; Phase 3 to begin on Feb 4

Guwahati, Jan 22: The second phase of Gunotsav-2025, Assam’s flagship school evaluation programme, concluded on Wednesday, covering 13,84,066 students from 15,650 schools across 14 districts. The three-day external evaluation (Jan 20-22) followed a self-assessment on Jan 17, ensuring a thorough review of academic and infrastructural standards.

The large-scale initiative witnessed the participation of 17,020 external evaluators, including IAS, IPS, IFS, ACS, APS, AFS, and Class I & II officers, alongside Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local leaders. These officials directly engaged with students, teachers, and parents, reinforcing the government’s commitment to quality education.

On first day of external evaluation on January 20, HAD minister Jogen Mohan visited PM Shri Mahmora High School, Mahmora under Charaideo district and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog visited No. 1 Town Model L.P. School, near Pachali, Chandmari, Golaghat Town and Fallangani Bapuji High school, Mur Phuloni, Dakghar Charali under Golaghat district. They act as external evaluators and also interact with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. during their visit.

On second day of external evaluation on January 21, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited Phaguna Rabha High School, Kahilipara, Lakshmi Nath Bezbarua ME School, Kahilipara and Narakasur High School, Kahilipara under Kamrup (Metro) district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. Similarly, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora visited Prasanna Vidyapith,  Ulubari and Jalukbari H.S. School, Jalukbari under Kamrup (Metro) district;  Sports Minister Nandita Garlosa visited Longre Basic LP School, Baithalangso, Tika Govt. ME School, Baithalangso and Edenbari ME School, Baithalangso Under West Karbi Anglong district; Handloom and Textile Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma visited Borobazar H.S. School, Borobazar, Bijni; KGVB, Borobazar, Bijni and Saragaon L.P. School, Saragaon, Bijni under Chirang district; Labour Welfare Minister Rupesh Gowala visited Deering Bagisha L.P. School, Deering Tea Estate, Kaziranga National Park under Golaghat district; MP Pradan Baruah visited Nilakh High School, Shripani under Dhemaji district and they act as external evaluator and also interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. during their visit.

On third day of external evaluation on Wednesday, PHE minister Jayanta Malla Baruah visited Irangdao High School, Kharua and No. 700 Kharua L.P. School under Baksa district and Transport Minister Jogen Mohan visited Matikhula M.V. School, Dakhin Dhemaji and Dhemaji Town L.P. School, Dhemaji Sadar under Dhemaji district; Panchayat Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass visited Chinmayee Girls High School, Golakganj and Chhagolia M.E. School, Agomoni under Dhubri district; Sports Minister Nandita Garlosa visited Radha Nagar M.E. School, Dayangmukh, PM Shri Gandhi Vidyapith Hindi L.P. School, Kheroni Chariali and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Dikhreng Socheng under Dima Hasao district; Agriculture Minister Atul Bora  visited Rajendra Narayan Dev M.E. School, Hatigaon, Guwahati and Narakasur Jr. Basic School, Kahilipara, Guwahati under Kamrup (Metro) district and they act as external evaluator and also interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members etc. during their visit.

The assessment covered scholastic skills (reading, writing, and numeracy), subject knowledge, and co-scholastic areas like community participation and school infrastructure and uniform compliance, overall academic environment.

The third phase of Gunotsav-2025 will take place from February 4-7, covering 12,375 schools and assessing 11,38,275 students in Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Majuli, Morigaon, and Nalbari. The evaluation will be conducted by 4,967 external evaluators.

The evaluation process will comprise a self-assessment on February 4, 2025, followed by an external evaluation from February 5-7, 2025. This phase will cover 12,375 schools  (Govt./Provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas and Tea Garden Management schools) and assess 11,38,275 students from classes I to IX. A total of 4,967 External Evaluators will participate in this phase of evaluation.
