4 injured from electrocution in Garo Hills

Tura, April 30: Four persons, including two children, were seriously injured after being electrocuted in a village at Hallidayganj in West Garo Hills on Tuesday.

The incident occured after a fire broke out in the house of Baten Ali at Sobribari, Hallidayganj. The fire caused a breakage of the main electrical wire leading to the electrocution of four occupants of the house.

The victims have been identified as the house owner Baten Ali ( 28 years) and his wife Jomella Khatun (26), their  3 year old son Abdul Habib and 6 year old daughter  Habiba Khatun.

Fire and Emergency Service teams from nearby Hatsingimari, Assam rushed to the site and managed to put the fire out before more damage could take place.

The four injured persons were taken to Hatsingimari Civil Hospital, Assam for immediate medical aid from where they have been referred to GMCH, Guwahati for further treatment.
