BSF, BGB to strengthen coordinated border management

Shillong, Sept 6: Amid a rising trend of influx attempts across India-Bangladesh border in the wake of restive situation in the neighbouring country, the border guarding forces of both the countries have decided to strengthen coordinated border management measures.

The decision was taken at a Sector Commander level coordination meeting between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) near Barsora Land Customs station in Bangladesh on Thursday. 

The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations, ensure better coordination, and address various border-related issues.

The BSF delegation was led by Manoj Kumar Barnwal, DIG, Sector HQ BSF Shillong while Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director General, Sector Commander BGB, Sylhet, Bangladesh led the BGB delegates.

The commanders of both the border guarding forces discussed on various border-related issues such as Co-ordinated Border Management Plan and other matters of mutual interest. 

Expressing their satisfaction with the meaningful and cordial discussions, they reiterated their commitment to fostering a secure and peaceful border environment and praised the ongoing efforts of their respective forces in maintaining tranquility in the region.
