Let BJP lead GHADC: MDC to NPP

‘Failure; in granting salary as per 5th Pay Commission’

Shillong, Sept 16: The BJP, which is part of the executive committee (EC) of GHADC led by NPP, has sought the latter to relinquish power over its failure to pay the staff salaries as per 5th Pay Commission.

“NPP should let BJP lead GHADC if it cannot keep its own commitment to its employees,” said BJP’s Tura MDC Bernard N Marak.

Referring to a Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) notification issued in 2018 to disburse salaries under 5th Pay Commission, he said, “Ever since then, the budget has been passed in 5th Pay Commission but the employees have been cheated since 2018 by the previous NPP Executive Committee by issuing salaries under 4th Pay Commission.”

He also claimed to have proof of NPP making “many attempts to highlight GHADC to the Centre as an incapable institution”.

“I have proof of the letters written by NPP ministers,” Bernard asserted.

“NPP should hand over GHADC to BJP to lead and we can ensure stability, strengthening and revamping of the Autonomous Council within 6 months,” he further stated.
