Meritorious students honored with U Kiang Nangbah Best Student Award

Shillong, October 1: A total of 94 students from 46 schools of West Jaintia Hills were honored at the ‘U Kiang Nangbah Best Student Award 2024’ in the presence of a large gathering of over 600 attendees, including students, parents, teachers, professors, and well-wishers, on Monday. 

The event was held at the District Auditorium, Mynthong in Jowai by ABVP Jowai. 

The event was graced by Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, as the chief guest; Lakhon Biam, Member of the District Council, JHADC as the guest of honor; Puranon Kynjing, Dolloi of Elaka, Jowai and Dr Sashankutlang Khongthohrem, state president of ABVP Meghalaya.

During his speech, Boro praised the ABVP for honoring Meghalaya’s freedom fighters through the event and encouraged the youth to actively participate in the development of the state and the nation. Biam echoed this sentiment, motivating young attendees to be ready to serve the country. 

Meanwhile, Kynjing provided a brief history of U Kiang Nangbah, highlighting his sacrifice for India’s freedom struggle while Khongthohrem also elaborated on ABVP’s mission and its ideology.
