Row over nursing jobs

‘Complete recruitment process, we worked hard’

Shillong, Oct 8: Nursing candidates declared successful in the controversial written interview process on Monday demanded for holding their physical verification to complete the recruitment process.

The candidates, who have cleared the written examination for posts of Staff Nurse and ANM, said they were not against the aggrieved candidates’ issue but wanted the government to remember that they had come to this stage “through hard work”.

“We are the qualified candidates whose roll numbers appeared in the list of the Staff Nurse results declared on 28 September 2024. So we want to request the government and the higher authorities to conduct the physical verification of successful candidates to ensure that the recruitment process is not delayed further,” said Merybahun Marbaniang, one of the successful candidates.

Claiming that the process of examination and results was transparent and fair, she also mentioned that the aggrieved candidates were already given 10 days to seek clarification on the matter.

“Yes, we feel for them, but then also, we have to stand on the facts. We have to understand that this is a competitive exam. We have to compete among ourselves as there were 5000-6000 candidates for only 164 posts,” she said.

“Just like the others, we are also here to voice our rights (especially when we have cleared the examinations),” Marbaniang added.

When asked, she said the next process is physical verification and all those candidates who cleared the examination are waiting for the notification from the Board.
