Immersion of Durga idols marks end of Puja celebrations

Shillong, Oct 13: Durga idols were immersed in rivers on Vijaya Dashami day marking the culmination of Durga Puja celebrations across Meghalaya on Sunday.

In Shillong, thousands of devotees joined in the vibrant processions carrying the idols from various Puja pandals for immersion at Wah Umhkrah river at Polo.

East Khasi Hills district administration ensured meticulous arrangements for a smooth and peaceful immersion ceremony.

Around 250 Puja committees took part in this year’s Vijaya Dashami celebrations across the state, according to the Central Puja Committee.
