Cattle, garlic sacks seized

Shillong, Nov 14: The BSF Meghalaya in a series of successful operations thwarted attempts to smuggle cattle and garlic across the Bangladesh border resulting in the seizure of two pick-up vehicles loaded with cattle and garlic valued at over ₹15 lakhs. 

Based on specific information, pick-up trucks (ML 08 K 3955  and AS 18AC 7177)  loaded with 40 cattle which were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh were intercepted by troops of 22 Bn BSF deployed near the South Garo Hills border. The vehicles and cattle were handed over to the concerned police station for further necessary action.

In another operation, alert troops from the 110th Bn BSF seized 5,320 kilograms of garlic near the East Khasi Hills border. The bags of garlic were concealed in a jungle area near the border. The seized items were handed over to the concerned customs office for further necessary action.
