Guwahati, Nov 14: Bodoland Mahotsav is now moving beyond Assam and people from various regions of the country, as well as from neighbouring countries will celebrate the cultural legacy of Bodoland in New Delhi this time.
The two-day celebration to be held on November 15-16 is aimed at promoting peace, harmony, and a vibrant Bodo society by connecting the indigenous Bodo people from Bodoland, Assam, West Bengal, Nepal, and other regions of Northeast India. The theme of the Mahotsav, “Peace and Harmony for Prosperous Bharat,” will highlight the cultural, educational, and linguistic heritage of the Bodo community and the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on November 15 at the SAI Indira Gandhi Sports Complex. He will also address the gathering.
A key session on “The Rich Bodo Culture, Tradition, and Literature Contributing towards Indian Heritage” will be the highlight, focusing on the Bodo community’s cultural, linguistic, and literary contributions. Another important session will address “Challenges and Opportunities of Mother Tongue Medium-of-Instruction through National Education Policy, 2020.”
Additionally, discussions on promoting the Bodoland region through tourism and culture will be featured under the theme “Indigenous Cultural Meet & Discussion on Building ‘Vibrant Bodoland’ Region.”
The Mahotsav will also mark the success of the Bodo Peace Accord signed in 2020, which has paved the way for healing and resilience in the region. Key sessions will include discussions on the Bodo culture, language, and literature, as well as the role of mother tongue education through India’s National Education Policy, 2020.
The event will also explore how culture and tourism can foster development in the Bodoland region.
