Experts share tips to budding hairstylists in city

Five-day ‘Hairdressing & Grooming Training Programme’ concludes

Shillong, Dec 3: Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community College (DDUCC) for Skill Development, Wahiajer, a constituent College of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), hosted a five-day “Hairdressing & Grooming” training programme for young men from November 25-29. The programme aimed to provide valuable insights into the latest hair trends, branding, and effective marketing strategies for aspiring hairstylists in the community.

The event attracted a diverse group of enthusiastic participants, all eager to explore their potential in the hairdressing and grooming industry. The programme, which concluded  recently, was a resounding success, providing participants with expert guidance and practical knowledge to enhance their skills. The sessions were led by Resource Persons/Trainers Saimonmi Kyndait and Sribash Shill.

Prof S M Sungoh, the Principal In-Charge, highlighted the DDUCC’s  commitment to inspiring individuals to unlock their creative potential and take actionable steps towards transforming their business ideas into reality. She emphasized that the aim of the programme was to encourage young people to explore both traditional and innovative hairstyling techniques, helping them elevate hairdressing into an art form. By utilizing both conventional materials and cutting-edge techniques, participants learned how to create unique and captivating hairstyles that push the boundaries of creativity.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of  Dr P Nongtdu, Principal, Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat as the chief guest, and Andriew Sari, Secretary of Wahiajer Village as Guest of Honour, who, in their addresses, underscored the artistry and social impact of hairstylists and barbers. They acknowledged that hairstyling is not only a profession but also a creative trade that seamlessly blends art with professionalism. They also noted that hairstylists who are committed to continuous learning and skill development remain at the forefront of their craft.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Wolnish Rymbai the Programme Coordinator, followed by the distribution of certificates to all the participants, marking the successful completion of the training programme.
