NESO calls for ‘black day’ on Dec 11

Shillong, Dec 10: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has called for display of black flags and black banners in seven states of NE region on Wednesday to mark the passage to the “draconian” Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) on 11 December 2019 as a “black day”.

“(We) would like to remind the people of the whole of North East that on 11 December 2019, despite relentless opposition of indigenous peoples of North East against CAA, Government of India did not pay heed and finally through the Rajya Sabha passed the draconian law,” NESO said in a statement.

With observation of the “black day”, the NESO said, it wants to convey its opposition to CAA and also remind the public about the “political injustice GoI perpetrated against indigenous people of North East”.
