Simsang Festival kicks off at Williamnagar

Shillong, Dec 13: The two-day Simsang Festival was inaugurated by cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak at Williamnagar District Sports Association (WDSA) stadium in East Garo Hills district on Friday.

Highlights of the festival include competitions in flower show, singing and dancing, cooking competitions, traditional and indigenous games, eating, fancy dress, etc.
In his address, the minister for Soil and Water Conservation, PHE, Housing, etc., said the state government is committed to promoting tourism in Garo Hills.

Referring to Daribokgre and Mandalgre, he said the government is taking necessary steps to create facilities for tourists in the area.

East Garo Hills deputy commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, superintendent of police Stephen A Rynjah, and senior citizen Crossnil D Sangma were among others who spoke on the occasion.
