Shillong, Dec 19: PA Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC), USTM, organised a health camp at Amphanggre, 12 Mile, Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi district on Wednesday, stated a press release.
Specialist doctors Dr Quaiser Jawed (Medicine), Dr Dubori Deka (Gynaecology), Dr Nancy Brahma (ENT), and Dr Aslam Ali (Dermatology) provided consultations to over a hundred villagers along with free medicines during the camp held ahead of Christmas.
The team was supported by junior residents, nurses, pharmacists, medical social workers, and ward assistants from PIMC, along with officials from USTM. Meanwhile, a team from USTM Public Relations Office visited Amphanggre village for an interactive session with village headman SD Marak and other community members, added the release.
The discussions shed light socio-educational landscape of the village comprising 75 households with around 600 residents. The community manages a single school catering to about 40 students from pre-nursery to Class 3.
The headman shared the community’s aspiration for government and non governmental support to enhance the school’s infrastructure and provide better opportunities for the children mostly belonging to very poor families, according to the release.
