Assam CM meets PM Modi, hails Namrup urea plant as a ‘game-changer’ for state’s development

Guwahati, Feb 3: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House in New Delhi on Monday, extending his heartfelt gratitude for the Central government’s approval of a new urea plant in Namrup.

Calling the decision a “game-changer in Assam’s developmental journey,” Sarma emphasized the plant’s pivotal role in boosting agriculture and industrial growth in the state.


During the meeting, the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit was also discussed, with the Chief Minister acknowledging the Prime Minister’s valuable guidance on the investment and infrastructure summit.

Additionally, Sarma briefed Modi on the mega Jhumur dance performance set to take place a day before the event at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati.


PM Modi will attend the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit as the chief guest on February 25, reinforcing the state’s efforts to attract investment and accelerate economic progress.


Sharing details on X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma wrote, “It was an absolute privilege to meet Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji today. On behalf of the people of Assam, I expressed our gratitude for the Govt’s decision to approve the Urea Plant in Namrup, which will be a game-changer in the State’s developmental journey.

I also received valuable guidance on the upcoming #AdvantageAssam2 Summit and the Mega Jhumur performance. We look forward to welcoming him to Assam soon.”
