ADC polls: Three candidates pull out of race, 272 still in fray  

Shillong, Feb 5: Three candidates for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council withdrew their candidatures on Tuesday. 

They include Cleofast Bamon from Mukhla-Ummulong, Hermon Phawa from Nartiang-Wahiajer and Opaya Lyngdoh from Rymbai-Khliehriat, officials said.

The nomination of 272 candidates for the ADC polls were found to be valid. Of this, 114 are from JHADC and 158 from KHADC.

There are 19 female candidates of which 12 from KHADC and 7 from JHADC. Polling will be held on February 21 and counting on February 24.
