NEHU non-teaching staff urge Centre to fill up vacancies

Shillong, Feb 13: The North-Eastern Hill University Non-Teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA) has sought Central intervention in urgently filling up vacancies in NEHU to end the current “stalemate”.

“The strength of non-teaching staff is rapidly declining to the extent that the regular affairs of the University are getting disturbed,” stated a NEHUNSA letter to union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The vacant non-teaching positions in NEHU were already advertised pending appointment.

In the letter, NEHUNSA president Dr Wandondor Rynjah Synrem also alleged that the current acting vice-chancellor has not held any Executive Council meeting, which is crucial for the advertised posts to be filled up.

The NEHUNSA pointed out that the University cannot function without having a proper administration and regular functioning of the University offices that require adequate non-teaching staff.

The non-teaching employees play a very important role in the administrative process, including admission, registration, scholarship/fellowship, examination, etc., Dr Synrem said.
