Shillong, Feb 14: Representatives of political parties and legal experts took part in a symposium on “Article 371(A), Article 371(G) and the Constitutional Provisions under Article 244(2)/Sixth Schedule” at on Saturday.
Senior advocates Erwin K Syiem Sutnga and Dr Fenela Lyngdoh Nonglait, MPCC secretary Manuel Badwar, UDP vice-president Robert June Kharjahrin, and BJP’s Mewaker Lyngdoh expressed their views with relevant examples and references on the theme, stated a press release.

The speakers deliberated on the impact of these constitutional provisions on governance, autonomy and indigenous rights, pertaining to Meghalaya and the coming autonomous district council (ADC) elections in Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
The programme was moderated by assistant professors of the college – Phibasiewdor Dohling and Dr Rapmebantei Kharkongor.
Principal Dr Eureka FP Lyngdoh delivered the welcome address while vice-principal Kenneth Chyne proposed the vote of thanks.
Around 300 participants including faculty and students of 20 different colleges and universities attended the programme.
