Awarded 111 PhDs with sound research credentials: USTM
Shillong, Feb 20: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has strongly objected to Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent remark against the university.
In a statement, the USTM termed “unfortunate” the remarks of Sarma that accused the university as “fraudulent”.
“USTM with all statutory credentials has been contributing immensely to higher education, research, and social welfare since its inception in 2011. Such statements not just defame the university but also question the credibility of the highest statutory and accreditation bodies of the Government of India,” the USTM said in a statement.
The university also mentioned that it was granted ‘A’ Grade by NAAC and became the only private university in the North East India to be ranked among the top 200 universities of the country by NIRF for the past three years.
“The research process involves multiple levels of scrutiny, quality assurance and every level of evaluation is done in presence of an external expert from premier institutions like IIT Guwahati, Tezpur University, North-Eastern Hill University, AMU, JNU, Delhi University, Gauhati University and other premier institutions of the country,” the USTM said.
Disclosing the figures regarding PhD, the USTM said 111 PhDs have been awarded with sound research credentials so far.
USTM also holds 140 patents which have already been published/granted and 1,085 research papers published in reputed national and international journals in recent years, it said.
