Congress hails party candidates’ ‘determination despite adversities’

Shillong, Feb 24: The Congress, which has drawn blank in KHADC and managed to win three seats in JHADC, has expressed its gratitude to the people of Khasi-Jaintia Hills for their support in the autonomous district council (ADC) elections.

“Though the results may not be in our favour, I deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and trust shown by our supporters and well-wishers,” the party’s state president Vincent H Pala said in a statement.

He also commended all Congress candidates for fighting the ADC polls “with great determination and resilience, despite numerous challenges, including betrayals and adversities.”

“Your dedication to the principles of the Congress party and your tireless efforts in serving the people will always be valued and respected,” Pala said.

Congratulating all the winning candidates, irrespective of party affiliations, the former MP said, “The people have placed their faith in you, and I sincerely hope you will work with integrity and a sense of responsibility to uphold the interests of the indigenous communities and protect the spirit of the Sixth Schedule.”

He asserted that the Congress Party “remains committed to strengthening grassroots democracy, safeguarding the rights of our people, and ensuring that development reaches every corner of Meghalaya.”

Pala also assured the people of Meghalaya that the Congress Party will remain steadfast in its mission to serve with honesty, inclusivity, and dedication.
