Govt asks NHIDCL resolve approach road issues

Shillong, Mar 3: The state government has asked the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to resolve issues related to approach roads to villages in Upper Shillong along the Shillong-Dawki four-lane road.

This was informed by deputy chief minister in-charge PWD (Roads & Buildings) Prestone Tynsong while replying to a concern raised by Congress legislator from Mylliem, Ronnie V Lyngdoh, in the ongoing assembly session on Monday.

To Lyngdoh’s concern that alignment of the road project has affected the approach roads to the villages in Upper Shillong, Tynsong assured of taking necessary action in this regard.

“Quite a number of portions are facing this problem and we have instructed the NHIDCL to resolve the issue and ensure the approach roads have to be there,” he said.

The deputy chief minister said the government is aware of the constructed-related issues along the Shillong-Dawki road project at 4th Mile, 4 1/2 Mile and 6th Mile (Eastern Air Command).

Progress of the work has been affected by water accumulation due to pipeline leakages in the stretch.

Pipleline leakages have been plugged at some places – Mattilang junction, Tea Garden and near Shillong Peak junction, he said.
