Itanagar, Sep 25 : Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Friday stressed the need to strengthen civil-military coordination in the strategically important border state.
Parnaik made the statement during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 101 Area, Lt Gen Mohit Waghwa, who called on him at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.
The governor said close coordination among the armed forces, state government and civil administration was essential for effective disaster response and public welfare initiatives, according to an official statement.
He also called for strengthening transit routes, communication networks and administrative infrastructure to facilitate troop movement and border area logistics.
Parnaik commended the pivotal role played by the Shillong-headquartered 101 Area in ensuring seamless combat logistics and operational coordination across the Northeast.
He appreciated the Command’s prompt response during natural disasters, including floods and landslides, saying its timely rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts had provided valuable support to affected communities.
The governor also urged the GOC to strengthen welfare measures for ex-servicemen, particularly by improving access to the ex-servicemen contributory health scheme (ECHS) and expanding empanelment of healthcare institutions in the state.
Lt Gen Waghwa assured the governor of the Indian Army’s continued commitment to maintaining close coordination and extending all possible support for the security, development and welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. (PTI)
