Shillong, Mar 16: Seven Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian nationals were arrested in multiple operations by the Border Security Force (BSF) in international border areas of Meghalaya.
East Khasi Hills (EKH), East Jaintia Hills (EJH), and South Garo Hills (SGH) districts of Meghalaya.

Troops of 172 Bn BSF conducted apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals in a special operation in the bordering area of East Jaintia Hills.
In another incident, three Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed by BSF personnel in South Garo Hills district while they were attempting to enter India in search of employment opportunities.
On the other hand, troops of 4 Bn BSF nabbed two Indian nationals along with a sugar-laden vehicle near the Indo-Bangla border on Nayabazar-Pynursla road in East Khasi Hills district.

The Indian nationals were making an attempt to smuggle the consignment into Bangladesh.
The seized vehicle and apprehended persons were handed over to local authorities for further legal proceedings.
