
Tura, April 25: Raising awareness on the dangers of malaria disease and its impact on humans, World Malaria Day programme was observed at Harikel English School under Dalupara Sub Centre, Garobadha PHC, of South West Garo Hills on Friday.
The programme at Rerapara C&RD Block, also included spreading awareness about malaria, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Tuberculosis (TB), leprosy, and other communicable diseases.
A key moment of the event was an inspirational speech by a TB Warrior, who shared a personal journey of overcoming the disease.

To mark the occasion, Dalupara and Asnaggre villages were honored with the “TB-Free Village” title for their successful efforts in eliminating tuberculosis.
The District Malaria Officer, Dr. Lydia Marak, gave an encouraging message during her speech announcing the decline in malaria cases in the region, but at the same time called for continued vigilance against the disease.
She emphasized “testing all fever cases” and “strengthening preventive measures”, particularly during the monsoon season.
