Laban Bengalee Boys takes top honours in Science, St. Edmund’s bags Arts

Tura, May 5: Shillong’s higher secondary schools have bagged top honours in this year’s Class XII HSSLC Examinations in the Arts and Science stream, with Saptarshi Bhattacharjee of Laban Bengalee Boys Hr Sec School securing the state’s first position in Science, while Albert Mate and Idawanplishisha Swer of St. Edmund’s Hr Sec School jointly sharing the state’s first position in the Arts stream.

Out of the top ten positions in the Science stream, six positions went to St. Anthony’s Hr Sec School, including the second, third, and fourth positions in the state. Laban Bengalee Hr Sec School had three positions in the state’s top list, including the first rank holder.

Garo Hills, Tura in particular, was also represented in both the Science and Arts top ten positions of the state- Samridhya Das with the 10th position in Science and Neev Sharma in 4th position (Arts), both students of Don Bosco College (H. Sec. Section), Tura.

In the Arts stream, six of the state’s top ten positions were bagged by students of St. Edmund’s Hr Sec School.

Schools from outside Shillong also excelled in this year’s examinations, particularly North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Mookyrdoop- Jowai whose students Reesa Ee Christine Suting and Rilanaika Sari jointly shared the 5th and 9th positions in the science stream.

Similarly, in the Arts stream, Nelly Mary Khymdeit of St. Paul’s Hr Sec School from Nongpoh made Ri-Bhoi proud with her second position in the Arts stream, while Lapdianghun Shisha Khonglam of Sohra Government Hr Sec School, Sohra with her 9th rank brought in the sunshine to one of the rainiest places on the planet.

Commerce Stream

The results of the HSSLC Commerce Stream once again had St. Anthony’s and Laban Bengalee Boys, Shillong rubbing shoulders in the top positions of the state.

Disha Chokhani of St. Anthony’s Hr Sec School, added glory for her school by getting the first rank of the state. Nishan Talukdar and Dipankar Barua, both of Laban Bengalee Boys Hr Sec School did honours to their school with the 2nd and 3rd positions of the state, respectively.

The Commerce results had Shillong based schools bagging all top ten positions of the state. Barring St. Anthony’s ( 4 ranks), Laban Bengalee Boys (3 ranks) and St. Edmund’s (2 ranks), only three other schools found a berth in the state list- namely St Mary’s and St. Margaret’s Hr Sec Schools ( a position each) and B.B.S College Shillong.
