Shillong, May 17: Three new examination centres have been set up in Shillong for smooth conduct of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2025, resulting in no candidate required to travel beyond Guwahati to appear in CUET-UG further.

The new centres are: St Mary’s Higher Secondary School – 70 computer nodes; Shillong College – 100 computer nodes; and Shillong ITI – 29 computer nodes.

“The State Government has been in constant coordination with the National Testing Agency (NTA) to increase the number of examination centres for this computer-based test. NTA has been responsive to the situation and is working closely with the State to ensure smooth implementation,” said commissioner & secretary (Education), Vijay Kumar Mantri, on Friday.

These additional centres have been allowed for reallocation of students, who were previously assigned to distant examination venues.

A total of 11,309 candidates from Meghalaya are scheduled to appear in CUET-UG from 19 May. Apart from 1,376 candidates, who are assigned to centres in Guwahati, the rest have been reallocated to centres within Meghalaya, according to NTA.

“In summary, no student from Meghalaya is now required to travel beyond Guwahati for the CUET (UG) exam. All candidates have been accommodated at centres in Shillong, Tura, or Guwahati, starting 19 May onwards. The change of centre has already been communicated to the candidates by NTA either through email or message or both,” Mantri said.

He also asserted that the state government is firmly committed to ensuring that every student from Meghalaya has a fair and accessible opportunity to appear for national-level examinations like CUET.

Close coordination with NTA is ongoing to ensure a smooth and successful examination process, he added.
