Other 7 NE states to host one sports discipline each
Shillong, May 17: Meghalaya is ready to host the National Games in 2027, in terms of sports infrastructure, said cabinet minister in-charge Sports & Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri.
“The infrastructure required for hosting the National Games is already there in the state. There are just a few things left… If you look at it in the past two years, many infrastructures have been completed,” Warjri told reporters on Friday.

“There is nothing to worry in terms of infrastructure,” he assured.
Meanwhile, the minister informed that the Centre has decided to allow other seven North Eastern states to host one discipline each during the National Games 2027.
“A few disciplines that we are giving to the other NE states is not based on (claims) that we don’t have sufficient infrastructure,” he clarified.
Asked, Warjri said all projects will be completed before the National Games.
The indoor stadium at JN Stadium is one of the projects still under construction, he said, adding that all major stadiums have been completed.

The football stadium at Makhanu is yet to be constructed, he said.
He also informed that several committees have been formed to look after the venues for different disciplines.
If needed, Sports Authority of India (SAI) infrastructure shall be utilised as well, he said.
