Govt okays Rs 30 cr to clear dues of Ganol power plant  

With this, overall project cost will stand at Rs 591 crore  

Shillong, June 4: The state government has sanctioned additional Rs 30 crore to clear all pending dues related to Ganol Stage-I Hydro Power Project in West Garo Hills district.  

Informing about the decision taken in the state cabinet on Wednesday, chief minister Conrad K Sangma said the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) had sought the amount to avoid future escalation of pending dues to different stakeholders of the project.

The sanction of additional Rs 30 crore will help MeECL clear all the pending dues to contractors of the project, which was already completed.

With this the overall project cost will stand at Rs 590.88 crore.

Meanwhile, the state cabinet also approved the Meghalaya State Energy Conservation Fund Rules (MSECFR) 2025.

Sangma said the Fund is mandatory for every state.

Different energy conservation and efficiency projects will be taken up through this particular fund.
