Shillong, July 9: North-Eastern Hill University is set to establish a Russian Language Centre and explore avenues for future collaboration in education, research, and student mobility.
The proposal was made during a virtual dialogue between NEHU and Russian institutions and aims to deepen strategic partnership on language and academic cooperation.

The proposed centre hopes to provide language instruction and cultural understanding, empowering students to stand shoulder to shoulder with their global counterparts.
Discussions were made on joint degrees, student and faculty exchanges, internships, and short-term certification courses.
Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUST), a Russian institute, expressed interest in welcoming tribal students from North East India for internships, academic programs, and collaborative research.
“We are eager to welcome tribal students from the North East of India to participate in internships, short-term academic programs, and collaborative research at Ufa,” said Rita Filippova, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs, UUST.
Vice Chancellor of NEHU Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla lauded the initiative saying,: “This is not just about language instruction. It is about empowering our students to stand shoulder to shoulder with their global counterparts.”

Prof. Md. Iftekhar Hussain, Dean, School of Technology, NEHU said: “We are keen to explore joint degree programs, particularly in engineering, biotechnology, and applied sciences.”
Meanwhile, NEHU is preparing to sign a strategic MoU with global placement expert Dr. Skill to align academic excellence with real-world employability and global workforce integration.
