Border blaze: 473 kg ganja busted in BSF-NCB raid at Indo-Bangla line

Guwahati, July 9: In a high-stakes joint raid, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a major drug smuggling racket, seizing a whopping 473 kilograms of ganja near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.

Acting on precise intelligence about a stockpile of ganja being prepped for cross-border trafficking, the 78 Battalion BSF and the NCB’s Siliguri Zonal Unit launched a targeted operation on July 8 in the border village of Rajpur.

With the help of a BSF K-9 unit, officers raided a local residence, apprehending an Indian smuggler and recovering nearly half a tonne of ganja from the premises. Authorities believe the consignment was intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.

The suspect and the seized contraband were handed over to the NCB for further legal proceedings. Officials hailed the operation as a significant strike against cross-border narcotics syndicates, tightening the grip on drug routes in the region.
