Heavy vehicles banned on frail bridge

Shillong, July 19: Prohibition was imposed on plying of heavy vehicles carrying load over 9 tonnes on bridge no. 1/1 along Nongspung–Laitmawsiang road.

The order was issued following reports of structural damage caused to the bridge by overloaded vehicles, stated an official notification.

Penalty will be imposed for violation of the order, it added.

The fail bridge is currently under renovation of its deck slab.
