Shillong, Nov 6: The state government has reiterated its stand on the Shillong Ropeway issue, asserting that there is no going back since work for the project has come a long way and the government has all due permissions for it.
Brushing aside the JAC protest against Shillong Ropeway project, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the government has already made its position clear.
“We from the government side have already explained. Even the experts of different departments have already done the detailed survey and the research, so we therefore stick to what we have already stated yesterday,” Tynsong said.
Asked on the demand to scrap the project and shift elsewhere, Tynsong said, “Tourism Minister has already explained everything about the issue of establishment of the ropeway or cable car.”
He said the government was sticking to its earlier statement as surveys and research had already been done.
No deal with BJP
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has asserted that there was no deal with the BJP on cabinet induction.
Tynsong, also the NPP state president, while responding to reports about BJP “unhappiness” over not getting more cabinet berths despite the party’s tally jumped to 10 from just two in the assembly.
“When they joined, there was no such discussion we had with NPP or with any partners,” he told reporters on Friday.
