Tura, July 23: A massive search operation is underway to trace out a six-year-old girl who went missing since July 18 from Rajasimla, a village known as the “Bethlehem of the Baptist Church, in North Garo Hills district with the Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and former Tura MP, Agatha K Sangma taking a serious view of the incident by visiting the village and the affected family, and directing authorities to intensify the search and bring the child safely back to her parents.
The child was last seen near her home in broad daylight on Friday (July 18) and her whereabouts thereafter remained unknown despite multiple search operations carried out to locate her. The operation involving villagers, volunteers and police search teams have been scouring the densely forested hills of Rajasimla and Ranga with no success.
The case gained significant attention on July 21st night when Agatha Sangma personally visited Rajasimla to assess the situation firsthand. She met with district authorities to receive live updates on the search efforts and also paid a visit to the missing girl’s family to offer her support and solidarity.
While holding a meeting with the search and rescue team officials, Agatha Sangma emphasized the need for unwavering efforts and called for the mobilization of available resources and administrative support in locating the child. “Every effort must be made to trace the missing girl,” Agatha urged, reinforcing her commitment to the cause.
The operations have escalated with the deployment of multiple units, including canine squads, fire and emergency services, and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) working together to try and trace out the missing child.
