CMSDF plays key role in aiding institutions: Conrad

Shillong, Aug 19: A newly-constructed community hall of Dorbar Shnong Mawkynroh-Umshing built under Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) was inaugurated by chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday.

Addressing the function, the chief minister highlighted the role of CMSDF in supporting institutions and villages across the state.

Terming the community hall a meaningful difference in Mawkynroh-Umshing locality, Sangma emphasized that while the fund may be modest in size, its impact on educational institutes, local development and community initiatives is significant.

He also pledged ongoing support for the community’s youth, including the provision of sports equipment, musical instruments, and training programs for entrepreneurs and farmers.

The chief minister encouraged the community to continue developing the hall as a hub for productive and positive activities, ensuring that young people have opportunities for growth, recreation, and skill-building.

He further highlighted the government’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions and local communities to drive sustainable development in the region.

Adding to the spirit of the occasion, children from St Luke’s and Grace Academy performed the song “Ri Lum,” receiving warm applause and reflecting the community’s rich cultural heritage.
