Good progress in most Smart City projects: Govt

Shillong, Aug 21: Most of the smart city projects sanctioned for the state are either completed or under way, said deputy chief minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Wednesday.

Around 15-17 smart city projects with different timelines are under various stages of implementation, he told reporters.

Admitting initial bottlenecks in implementing the projects, the minister said the projects have currently witnessed good progress.

Dhar also expressed the hope that all projects will be completed within a year, fulfilling the government’s goal to finish the Smart City Mission projects by mid-2026.

He said the project near Additional Secretariat is almost complete.

Informing about the government’s target of fully implementing the street parking policy by the end of this year, he said, “The government is discussing who will manage parking facilities, with plans to involve Rangbah Shnong in non-municipal areas and municipal officials in municipal areas.”
