‘Teachers, trained or untrained, doing their best’

Shillong, Sept 5: Lack of teachers’ training due to certain “technical issues” has not hampered the quality of education in the state, education minister Rakkam Sangma said on Friday.

“Whether trained and untrained, they are doing their best,” Sangma said while lauding the teachers’ contribution in the growth of education sector in the state.

Extending his greetings to the teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, he said, “You (teachers) are the pillar of the nation. Your contribution means a lot to the people of the state and your contribution will decide the future of our state and our country.”

He highlighted the progress made by the state in education sector over the past few years and said the credit goes to teachers for their hard work and commitment.

Referring to the discontinuation of Centrally-funded in-service training under NIOS and IGNOU, the minister said, “However, that doesn’t compromise the quality of their services.”

Meanwhile, the government continued its efforts to strengthen the sector by building schools and quarters and restructuring the entire system of education, he said.

Sangma also support and cooperation of all stakeholders to improve the education sector in the state.
