Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira resigns

Tura, Sept 8: Deputy Speaker and MLA of Resubelpara in North Garo Hills, Timothy D Shira, has resigned from the post of Deputy Speaker this afternoon. His resignation was accepted by Speaker Thomas A Sangma.

Timothy D Shira has been MDC and Chairman of GHADC and elected several times to the assembly from Resubelpara. When the then NCP spearheaded by P A Sangma stormed to power as a major coalition partner in the Meghalaya Assembly elections of 2008, Timothy D Shira was made a deputy CM under Chief Minister Donkuper Roy.
