Governor lauds USTM for NIRF rankings

Shillong, Sept 8: A delegation from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya had a formal meeting with the Meghalaya Governor CH Vijayashankar ahead of the university’s much-anticipated 11th Convocation ceremony.

The delegation was led by Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeshwar Saharia, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Principal of IAMC, along with senior administrative officials of USTM. The meeting provided an important platform to present the university’s recent academic and institutional milestones and to discuss plans.

During the meeting, the USTM team presented comprehensive performance reports that showcased the university’s consistent growth, innovation, and commitment to excellence in higher education. The reports highlighted USTM’s achievements in academic programs, research initiatives, infrastructure development, and community engagement.

Governor Vijayashankar expressed his sincere appreciation for the remarkable strides made by USTM in establishing itself as a premier educational institution in the region. He specifically commended the university for securing a position in the prestigious National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the fourth consecutive year—a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work of the entire USTM community.

The Governor praised the spirit of teamwork and collaboration among the university’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students, which he described as the cornerstone of USTM’s success. He emphasized that such collective effort is essential in nurturing a vibrant academic culture that fosters innovation, critical thinking, and holistic development.

Recognizing USTM’s role as a beacon of academic excellence and research in Meghalaya and the North East, the Governor lauded the university’s ongoing initiatives to bridge the gap between education and real-world applications, thereby contributing to the socio-economic progress of the region.

The delegation also discussed preparations for the upcoming 11th Convocation ceremony, expressing optimism about the university’s continued trajectory of growth and its expanding influence on the educational landscape.
