Tynsong warns of police actions against violators

Shillong, Sept 9: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has asked the state police to administer stringent actions on those misusing symbols of authority without proper documents.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tynsong said the government has instructed all police headquarters as well as the SPs to check unauthorised use of tinted glasses or siren as it goes against the prescribed regulation of the government.

His statement came following the recent arrest of people for impersonating law enforcement personnel and seizure of airguns from their possession.

Regarding claims that one of the accused might contest an election, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed skepticism, stating that he is unaware of any such information.

“I asked my fellow politicians but nobody knows the man. No matter whether you are close with A, B, C or D who are in power, you still have to go as per the prescribed norms as per the prescribed rules,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Tynsong said the police along with local authorities and community leaders have promptly intervened and defused the situation arising out of the recent clash incident at Jaiaw.

He explained that due to the joint coordination and amicable resolution with the local community, filing an FIR was not deemed necessary.

“Since we jointly coordinated with the local authority, we had a discussion and ultimately resolved the issue amicably. Therefore it is not necessary to file an FIR,” Tynsong told reporters.
