Panel suggests measures to improve MeECL functioning

Shillong, Sep 11: A report of inquiry into alleged anomalies in Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) and its three subsidiary companies was tabled in the state cabinet on Thursday.

The report of the independent inquiry committee is related to allegations related to procurement, Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses, and human resource management.

The committee has made several suggestions to improve the functioning of MeECL and its subsidiaries.

“After accepting this report, the cabinet has instructed the Power department to ensure that all steps are taken to implement the different suggestions that has been made by this inquiry committee,” Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma told reporters after chairing the meeting on Thursday.

Sangma assured that the inquiry committee’s report will be made public on the government’s website within the next couple of days, allowing citizens to access the findings and recommendations.
