Shillong, Sept 17: On being sworn in as new cabinet minister, Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) legislator from Mawshynrut Methodius Dkhar has assured that his party will continue to pursue the long pending demands for resolving the age-old inter-state border dispute with Assam, implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) and inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
“Through this government, we will try to push these key demands of the party,” Dkhar told reporters on Tuesday.
Dkhar expressed his gratitude to the people of Mawshynrut constituency and West Khasi Hills, saying that the induction of a minister from the constituency and the region after a long gap of over 20 years will inspire the local population.
“For almost more than 20 years, we did not get the chance to be in the cabinet. I hope with my induction in the cabinet, it will inspire the people of West Khasi Hills and Mawshynrut constituency.”
He also thanked the party leadership particularly the outgoing cabinet minister Shakliar Warjri for paving the way for his induction into the cabinet.
“I wish him (Warjri) all the best,” Dkhar said while assuring to work with him and the party as a team.
