Governor fetes artistes; thanks them for their contribution

Shillong, Sept 30: A cultural programme was held at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan on Tuesday where Governor Vijayashankar felicitated artistes for their contribution in enriching the cultural experience of the State.

The programme, titled A Morning with Ragamilka, was organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Shillong.

The governor performed the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony and also lauded ICCR for its initiatives in strengthening cultural diplomacy and promoting India’s artistic heritage.

In his welcome address, N. Munish Singh, Zonal Director, ICCR, highlighted the role of ICCR in promoting cultural exchanges and nurturing India’s diverse artistic traditions.

The highlight of the morning was a captivating performance by Ragamilka, featuring eminent artistes — Saitejas Chandrashekar (Carnatic Harmonica), Arjun Dinakar (Violin), G.S. Nagaraj (Mridangam), and Sumana Chandrashekar (Ghatam). Their soulful renditions and rhythmic mastery enthralled the audience and reflected the timeless beauty of Indian classical music.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
