Ri Bhoi police conduct inspection drive, collect Rs 8 lakh in traffic fines

Shillong, Oct 8: Ri Bhoi police conducted a large-scale enforcement drive from 7 pm on Tuesday to early Wednesday morning where around 2,500 vehicles were checked by the law enforcers.

A total of Rs 8 lakh in fines was collected from over 200 vehicles for various traffic violations for offences such as not wearing helmets or seat belts, expired documents, wrong lane driving, overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and illegal modifications.

The police department emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations to ensure road safety.

The Ri Bhoi police have urged the public to report any traffic violations by clicking a picture and sending it to them on WhatsApp at 6909300160. They encourage citizens to be their “eyes and ears” to help make the roads safer.

The police also expressed gratitude to the good samaritans and media representatives who supported them during the operation.
