Two arrested with drugs in EJH

Shillong, Oct 15: Two persons, including a member of an inter-state gang, were arrested for their involvement in illegal drugs trade at Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills district.

ANTF personnel on Tuesday intercepted a Hyundai Venue car (AS-01 EJ 8977) at a naka of Umkiang outpost and apprehended Abdul Rob Laskar alias Munna (22) from Silchar, Assam.

Five soap boxes containing suspected drugs were seized from him.

Later, a co-accused and habitual offender identified as Asif Wahlang of Laban, Shillong was also arrested.

A case has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station under NDPS Act.

Meanwhile, East Jaintia Hills SP Vikash Kumar has urged anyone with information about the narcotics trade to come forward and contact the local police station.

The informer’s identity will be kept secret, and suitable rewards will be given, he said.
