Rymbui hails communities for donating land for Eklavya schools

Shillong, Nov 25: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Tuesday praised community cooperation in handing over land for the construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools across the state.

Speaking to media persons, Rymbui acknowledged hurdles saying, “It is not very easy in the state of Meghalaya to start any project. Having said that, I am very thankful to the communities, land owners and villages who have parted their land for the setting up of Eklavya schools.”

Rymbui added, “In many of the locations, the land has been identified and handed over to the department for necessary action and in the next few years, these schools will be operationalized.”

Two schools in Paham and Samanda were pre-sanctioned, executed by the state and have been operational since September and we are in the process of constructing others as well, said the minister.

“Earlier this month, the chief minister had visited one location in Amlarem sub division’s Umladkhur where the timeline to finish the construction has been fixed for March 21, 2026. Therefore, we hope we can start functioning by the next academic year,” he told reporters.
