Sosthenes Sohtun asks C&RD dept to improve service delivery across BDOs
Shillong, Nov 28: Lack of mobile network in certain rural areas has been identified as one of the key challenges in implementation of various government schemes.
“Lack of connectivity due to no mobile towers is causing problems for village employment councils and self-help groups,” Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Minister Sosthenes Sohtun said on Friday after a review meeting convened ensure proper implementation of schemes for overall rural development.
He asked the respective block development offices (BDOs) to take necessary steps to resolve the issue.
Sohtun also asked the department to improve service delivery across 56 BDOs to ensure proper implementation of various schemes.
“We discussed various issues and ways to improve service delivery through the block development offices especially in rural areas,” he said.
Besides other officials, BDOs from all the 56 blocks took part in the meeting.
“The government is committed to bring administration closer to the people, and we want to improve officer services for proper scheme implementation,” the minister said.
Sohtun emphasized the importance of effective service delivery, stating, “We want to improve the services of the officers for proper implementation of the various schemes in the different blocks for the benefit of the people.”
