Shillong, Dec 1: The upcoming Me’gong Festival in Tura now has more reasons for music enthusiasts to be a part of it! The festival lineup will now have two major international additions — British pop-R&B boy band Blue and Grammy-nominated reggae artist Julian Marley, son of music legend Bob Marley.
Richard Marx and world-renowned electronic duo Yellow Claw are already among the confirmed headliners in the festival scheduled for December 5 and 6.
The expanded roster signals one of the most diverse and globally curated lineups in the festival’s history, blending international acts with prominent Indian artists and homegrown talent.
Bollywood stars Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan will also perform, adding a strong contemporary Indian presence.
The festival will continue its tradition of spotlighting musicians from the region, with performances by Rough Road, Hoi Hoi Makbil, Haystack Ladies, G-Hills Finest, Crack Gang, and Ahaia, bringing together global rhythms and Garo heritage on a single stage.
According to officials, the festival aligns with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s vision of positioning Me’gong as a key pillar of Meghalaya’s cultural economy — one that boosts tourism, supports creative livelihoods, and promotes indigenous heritage.
The 2024 edition drew over three lakh visitors, cementing the Garo Hills as a rising cultural and tourism destination.
Beyond music, Me’gong offers an immersive cultural experience featuring Garo cuisine, traditional crafts, weaving and bamboo workshops, and beaded jewellery, along with strong sustainability practices such as zero-plastic operations and community-led waste management.
