Shillong, Dec 10: It’s not just Meghalaya, but all the states in the country have been affected by the delay in release of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) funds for payment of contractors’ bills, said Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday.
“The funds for JJM have been stopped at the central level for all state governments. So, there are no funds being released to any states as of now. Not just Meghalaya, but the whole country,” Sangma said.
JJM, being a mission-mode project, was supposed to end in March 2024, and accordingly Union Cabinet decided to close it.
However, the Centre later decided to extend the programme till ongoing projects are concluded, subject to an audit of schemes implemented throughout the country, he said.

After completion of the audit, the Finance Ministry will release the funds, he assured.
“We do expect that things will be streamlined…,” he added. (JJM) funds for payment of contractors’ bills, said Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday.
